If you've founded — or are about to found — a Greek Private Capital Company (Ι.Κ.Ε. / IKE) as a non-Greek resident, EU entrepreneur, or international accountant managing Greek clients, this guide explains the mandatory corporate website requirement in English. The obligation is real, the deadline is past, and non-compliance has administrative consequences.

What is an IKE?

The Ιδιωτική Κεφαλαιουχική Εταιρεία (Private Capital Company, abbreviated IKE) is Greece's most popular corporate form for SMEs since 2012. Key features:

  • Limited liability (similar to UK Ltd, German GmbH, US LLC)
  • Minimum share capital: €1 (yes, one euro)
  • Single-member or multi-member structure
  • Three types of contributions: capital, non-capital (work), guarantee
  • Governed by Law 4072/2012, registered with GEMI (Greek Business Registry)

The website mandate

Under Article 47 §2 of Law 4072/2012, every IKE must establish a corporate website within one month of company formation. The website must publish specific company information for transparency, and its URL must be officially declared to GEMI.

This is not optional — it's a legal obligation with administrative sanctions for non-compliance, made operationally enforceable on 02/02/2026 via Ministerial Decision KYA 46982/2025.

10 mandatory fields

Per Article 47 §1+§2, the website must display:

  1. Full company name with "Ι.Κ.Ε." or "Μονοπρόσωπη Ι.Κ.Ε." suffix
  2. Share capital in EUR
  3. Total guarantee contributions (Article 79)
  4. GEMI number
  5. Registered seat + exact address
  6. Full names of all members/shareholders
  7. Addresses of all members
  8. Contribution category per member (capital / non-capital / guarantee)
  9. Manager(s) / director(s)
  10. "Under liquidation" indication when applicable

Missing any of these constitutes a publicity violation subject to GEMI administrative sanctions.

Deadline + KYA 46982/2025

The 1-month window from formation is the formal deadline. For IKEs that already exist without a website, the compliance deadline set by KYA 46982/2025 is 02/02/2026. After this date:

  • GEMI issues a 30-day formal notice with opportunity to comply
  • If unresolved → fine with 50% reduction available if paid within 30 days
  • Continued non-compliance → suspension of GEMI registrations ("freeze"), blocking corporate changes, certificate issuance, mergers, etc.
  • Recidivism within 3 years doubles the fine; repeat recidivism triples it

GEMI URL declaration

It is not enough to create the website. The URL must be formally declared to GEMI via the YMS (One-Stop Shop) portal at businessportal.gr. Without official declaration, the company is considered non-compliant even if the website exists.

Fines for non-compliance

KYA 46982/2025 does not specify a separate fine amount exclusively for the missing website. The violation falls under the general publicity-violation regime, which:

  • Allows 50% reduction within 30 days of notification
  • Doubles on recidivism within 3 years
  • Can escalate to GEMI registration freeze
  • Is collected via AADE/KEDE (automatic collection mechanism)

Note: Greek competitor websites often quote specific fine figures (e.g. "up to €100k"). These are generic GEMI publicity penalty ranges, not website-specific amounts. KYA 46982/2025 does not contain a fixed website-only euro figure.

How to comply

Three paths exist:

  1. Build your own: develop a static or CMS-based site with all 10 fields, host it, declare URL to GEMI. Cost: €100-500 + ongoing maintenance.
  2. Hire a web agency: €200-500 one-time plus annual hosting (€60+).
  3. Use a specialized SaaS: €24-79/year, including hosting, domain, automatic GEMI data sync.

For non-Greek founders or international accountants, IKEwebsites.gr offers an English-friendly onboarding flow with €24/year all-inclusive pricing, automatic GEMI data synchronization, custom domain support on higher tiers, and accountant-program pricing for firms managing multiple Greek clients.

Συχνές ερωτήσεις

+Is this requirement applicable to non-Greek residents who own a Greek IKE?

Yes. The obligation attaches to the IKE entity, regardless of the nationality or residency of its members/managers.

+Does it apply to dormant IKEs?

Yes. As long as the IKE is registered with GEMI and not formally dissolved, the website obligation applies.

+Can the website be in English instead of Greek?

Greek is recommended for the mandatory legal fields (for clarity with Greek authorities). An additional English version is allowed and useful for international audiences. Hybrid setups are common.

+What if the IKE operates entirely outside Greece (e.g., remote consulting)?

The obligation still applies — it is tied to the Greek legal entity, not operations or revenue location.

+Are there any exemptions for solo-member IKEs?

No. Single-member (Μονοπρόσωπη) IKEs have the same obligations as multi-member.
